The best game you’ve never seen because you’re too much of a zoomer. The game that started a franchise for a game that we all play today. The game that was literally just a spreadsheet simulator.
Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is Hearts of Iron 2, the predecessor for Hearts of Iron 4 that came out in 2005. This game might be older than some of you watching this, that’s how old and boomer this game is. And of course, you guessed it right, it’s one of Tommy’s favorite games back in the day because he’s THAT old. As is tradition, the first country you play in any Hearts of Iron game is Germany and let me tell you, Germany in HOI2 is definitely not TommyKay Germany as you will see.
Anyways, enjoy the spreadsheets, enjoy the disgusting UI, enjoy the technology that’s literally just boxes, enjoy the units that are just numbers and the sprites look terrible, enjoy this really old map that honestly looks awful, but most importantly enjoy the nostalgia that hits you when that amazing HOI2 music kicks in.
Watch one of the best grand strategy games back in the day and the game that kicked off the genre that we all love and enjoy to this day!
